Alan L. Farkas
Alan Farkas has 25 years experience as a management consultant. He began his consulting career at Booz·Allen & Hamilton, a leading international management consulting firm, where he was a partner and vice president.
He holds A.B. and M.A. degrees in international relations from Princeton and Yale Universities, respectively, and he has periodically supplemented this training by participating in workshops and seminars on a variety of business topics.
He specializes in strategic planning and implementation and in helping firms align business practices and organization with strategy. He has worked with over 25 infrastructure and environmental engineering firms and with firms in industrial waste management, industrial services, and water quality systems and services. He has also helped many major multinational pharmaceutical firms improve their organizational effectiveness.
Joan B. Berkowitz, Ph.D.
Joan Berkowitz has provided management consulting services to industrial clients for close to 30 years. Prior to co-founding FB&C, she was vice president of Arthur D. Little, Inc., one of the worlds foremost consulting firms. She directed the firms global environmental practice.
She holds a Ph.D. degree in physical chemistry from the University of Illinois, and she is a graduate of the senior executive program of the MIT Sloan School of Management. She is an adjunct professor at the University of Marylands Graduate School for Management and Technology.
She specializes in assessing the commercial potential of new technology, analyzing environmental and infrastructure markets, and conducting competitor benchmarking. She also assists clients in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of their operations.
In addition, the principals draw on a small staff of associates and an extensive network of affiliated consultants with expertise in corporate finance, organizational development, compensation and benefits, Federal government contracting, and a wide range of scientific and engineering disciplines. Chris Frangione
Chris Frangione has experience in defining new business opportunities, policies, and strategies for companies, associations, and organizations operating in the environmental arena. He has developed associations in the energy sector, assisted in the start up of both a for-profit and a non-profit, and worked as a consultant to federal and private sector clients on management, energy, and environmental issues. Recently, his focus has been on the energy field where he has worked in all sectors - wholesale, retail, renewable technologies, energy efficiency, and public outreach and education. In addition, Mr. Frangione has experience working with regulators at the state level and running a market for a retail renewable energy company.
Mr. Frangione holds an MBA and Masters of Environmental Management from Duke University and a BA in Environmental Policy from Colby College.
Sarah L. Chittenden
Sarah Chittenden began her management consulting career at A.T. Kearney where she specialized in the development and management of financial and human resources databases. She currently plays a leading role in the analysis of survey data, and she serves as executive director of the Farkas Berkowitz Forum. Fluent in French, she holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in French literature from the University of Kansas.
Melissa Bray
Melissa Bray began her career by providing technical and database support to U.S. EPA’s Water Security Division. She currently supports the firm as a research assistant. She holds a B.A. in environmental studies from Rollins College. She is currently pursuing her MS in Environmental Science and Policy at Johns Hopkins University.
L. Edward Wilson
Ed Wilson has over 30 years experience as a practicing civil engineer, chief executive officer of both professional and technical services firms, and an entrepreneur in the waste management field. He has over eight years experience as a management consultant. He specializes in providing financial advisory services, raising debt and equity capital, and assisting with mergers and acquisitions.
He began his career as a geotechnical engineer, and is past president of ASFE and past chairman of its Council of Fellows. He holds a B.S. in civil engineering from Tennessee Technological University.
Margaret Downs
Margaret Downs has over ten years experience as a management consultant. She began her consulting career at Bain & Company, where she developed and implemented business strategies for Fortune 500 clients and directed a group of ten professionals. The consulting she has done since leaving Bain has involved a mix of both strategy and organizational development assignments. Most recently, she was executive vice president of Bain Venture Capital. In the early 1990s she was also president of Daneco, the U.S. subsidiary of an Italian-based company active in engineering, construction, and operation of solid waste recycling facilities.
She holds an M.B.A. and a B.A. from Harvard University. In addition, she has done graduate work in organizational psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Cheryl A. Gardner
Cheryl A. Gardner is a research and management professional with 20 years experience focusing on management development, program evaluation, and organizational research. She has implemented projects to support organizational culture change and strategic initiatives using a variety of techniques including employee surveys, customer satisfaction surveys, executive interviews, and focus groups. She is innovative in her selection of approaches and has conducted numerous projects requiring careful planning, coordination and effective communication. In addition to teaching marketing and international marketing at George Washington University and Georgetown University as an adjunct professor, she has consulted with a variety of government and private industry organizations. She earned a Doctorate in Business Administration from George Washington University with a concentration in international business and marketing, an M.B.A. from the University of Southern California, and a B.A. in economics from Smith College.
Dahlia Radley-Kingsley
Dahlia Radley-Kingsley has over 15 years of consulting experience. She is a specialist in organizational development consulting and executive coaching and has helped CEOs and other Senior Executives dramatically transform the way they operate in their organizational environments.
Dahlia holds an MBA from the Wharton School and an MBA from the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. She earned her undergraduate degree at Princeton University. More recently, she is an advanced candidate of psycho analytic studies at the Institute for Psycho Analytic Training and Research.
